In a class action lawsuit (copy of the Complaint is available on the complaint tab at the top of this page) filed on March 7, 2023 in the federal district court for Connecticut, current and former Ivy League athletes have alleged that the Ivy League’s prohibition against athletic scholarships and compensation or reimbursement for athletic services constitutes unlawful price fixing in violation of federal antitrust law. The suit seeks monetary damages due to Defendants’ alleged conduct and an injunction against the Ivy League that eliminates the prohibition and allows each individual Ivy League school to award athletic scholarships in the future.

The Defendant schools are:

Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College,
Harvard University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University.
The Council of Ivy Presidents is also a Defendant.
